This is from class Wednesday 9/14, where we started our new project: Monday Prototype. The assignment is to design a solution to Monday, through a smart object, mobile screen, and prototype. The project is supposed to take us through an interactive design process, from screen to object, considering temporal media and human experiences. First we started with a mind map that we did individually, mapping out all of the different problems with Monday. I put some different color stars to some of the things that corresponded together. After that we had to partner up and compare mind maps. Brooke is my partner on this project, and we both had some of the same ideas for what we wanted to focus on. One of our first ideas had to deal with coffee, but we mainly focused on anger after we talked through the options. Wednesday 9/7 : We toured the Print Shop and got our information to print our final version of our Visual Order: Gestalt books. I did not get a desk crit with Emmy that day. Monday 9/12:  I was absent this day with a doctor's note, but I sent my mockup to Emmy, while others brought their printed mockups to class for group critiques. This is from class on Wednesday 8/31. We had to find the rest of the definitions for the remaining terms which I will post underneath. This is from class Monday 8/29. We had to create typographic versions of four Gestalt Principles we learned which are: similarity, proximity, continuity, and closure. We had to make 5 variations of these principles in illustrator to explore verbal visual meaning through breaking up the letterforms. After that we also had to do one more iteration of each constructed image in our chosen theme. After critique it was still hard for me to decide what to do. Everyone said they liked my pill images more than anything, but last year I worked with pills as my medium for a few projects, so I wanted to do a subject matter that was new to me. For the four iterations I went ahead and did the "link" downtown, but I changed my theme later. This is from class Wednesday 8/24: Dot + Visual Grammar, where we did 12 versions of each gestalt principle, with three themes to explore. My three themes were pills (medication), books, and nature. Out of all three I really like my nature photos, because I wanted to explore these principles through the environment instead of just objects. I also like my pills as well because I feel like they visually explain each principle better than the other two. I am going to post my favorite ones, as well as my contact sheet.

This is from class Monday 8/22: Deconstruct The Dot.  We took 27 circles (9 on each sheet) and placed an intersecting grid on top of them. Then we explored, breaking each circle in various ways. We had to pay attention to figure/ground and balance.
